Home Assessments
At Keystone Mobility, we understand the challenges our customers face when striving to stay independent. Therefore we offer home assessments to evaluate their home and work environments. These evaluations help determine what provisions can be made to assist them in continuing their independence and maintain as high a quality of life as possible.
Working with patients in their home or work environment provides unique opportunities to design programs that meet the specific needs of patients within their individual surroundings.
Keystone Mobility strives to optimize a patient’s environment not only by addressing internal factors, such as strength and balance, but also external factors, such as living environments. Ideal home situations promote independent function and enhance a patient's activities of daily living. A home assessment examines aspects of the living environment both inside and immediately outside the home, denotes areas that may potentially create problems or dangers for a patient, and distinguishes modifications that make the living environment safer and/or more functional.
Keystone Mobility use two types of home assessment tools, a Home Safety Assessment (HSA) and a Functional Environment Assessment (FEA). The HSA evaluates all major areas of the environemnt and rates the assistance required, the difficulty demonstrated by the patients, and the safety exhibited while negotiating the areas. The FEA notes hazards present in various areas of living environments called pathways. The assessment scores a patient's difficulty with these hazards as well as the frequencies of encountering the hazards.
